Programs
The Values Program
The Values Program teaches human values, sets models for behaviour and promotes the creation of a safe and happy learning environment for all children. At the base of every culture or environment is a set of values that determine how people behave towards each other. The program increases children's awareness of their responsibilities towards all others in their community and reinforces the caring family environment that is an integral part of life at Camelot Rise.
You Can Do It
The You Can Do It Program provides students from Prep to Year 6 with the Foundations for achievement in school, work and at home. The program achieves this by focusing on the four important Foundations of Confidence, Persistence, Getting Along and Organisation. Each one becomes a whole school focus for one term and is supported by the Values Program.
Dealing with Bullying
At Camelot Rise, we believe that parents, teachers and children working together with a common understanding and a common purpose, can create an environment where bullying has no place.
Camelot Rise is a safe and caring school offering a supportive environment that is focussed on resolution, rather than finding or assigning blame. The answer is to find solutions in a non-confrontational manner that enables the bullied student and the bully to co-exist.
The Buddy System
The Buddy System is a program that develops and promotes social skills between Prep and Grade 6 children. The program establishes a link between the incoming Prep child and the Year 6 student to aid the Prep's transition from pre-school to school and to promote the responsibilities given to the Year 6 students.
Bright Ideas
Bright Ideas is a program for students in Years 5 & 6 that develops and promotes positive thinking skills for students (and teachers). The program encourages children to view situations in a positive way, to try and evaluate their thinking and consider alternatives that will lead them to greater control of their thinking, feelings and behaviour.
Students are involved in role-plays, discussion groups, games and stories. Children are given the opportunity to express their views and feel valued.
Peer Support
The Peer Support Program helps children to behave in helpful ways. It encourages cooperative participation and helps students to develop responsibility, confidence, leadership and to make new friends. Through the program, the children begin to think more positively about themselves, develop greater confidence in their ability to make good decisions and the strength to say "no" to harmful pressure from others.
All year 5 & 6 students undertake a full two day training in the Peer Support Program. Following the training, children may apply to become Peer Support Leaders. They then meet their group of six students from Years 3 & 4 for one period each week in school time.
