The Middle School at Camelot Rise consolidates earlier learning and provides the foundation for learning in the Senior Learning Centre. In Years 3 & 4, children are encouraged to further develop their independent learning skills through a stimulating and varied curriculum.
Curriculum
The integrated approach to learning continues and enables an effective coverage of all the key learning areas. The emphasis is on providing a differentiated curriculum across all key learning areas to cater for the individual needs and learning styles of students.
The Early Years initiatives that commenced in the Junior Learning Centre continues into the Middle School. Parental assistance enables us to support the reading and literacy activities.
Children in Year 3 are introduced to the Vertical Mathematics Program, run in conjunction with CHIP (Children of High Intellectual Potential). The program caters for children's individual learning needs whilst challenging them to reach their potential. The Vertical Mathematics Program continues through to Year 6, with some children working at levels beyond Year 7.
Extension activities are incorporated in the core studies and many opportunities are provided for participation in external competitions, e.g.
- Wakakirri - Dance and Drama Eisteddfod
- University of N.S.W. - Australian School Science, Mathematics, Computer and English Competitions
- Chess Tournaments
- Alliance Française de Melbourne - Berthe Mouchette Competition

The Peer Support Program promotes and develops positive thinking skills and resilience amongst the children. The 'You Can Do It' Program supports this by focusing on four important values of Confidence, Persistence, Getting Along and Organisation. These programs are two of many initiatives at Camelot that brings benefits to our students and a positive and caring school culture.
Communication and Parental Participation
Parents at Camelot Rise are invited to participate in classroom activities, literacy and reading programs and to accompany children on excursions and with school productions.
Camelot Rise has an 'open door' policy towards communication. Parents are encouraged to contact the class teacher if they have a concern about their child's progress or if there is a matter of importance that needs to be discussed.
