Tournament of Minds
This program will mainly involve Year 5 and 6 students who are interested in creative problem solving and in working with a group of seven students over a period of a term. Students may choose to solve problems from either a Science/Mathematical, Humanities/Social Science or Language/Literature area.
This program is very worthwhile as students will learn life skills such as learning to work cooperatively, learning to cope with time schedules, money restraints, learning new skills such as building, sewing, acting. Each team must write a script, which includes the solution, and act it out. Prop and costume making is also involved. Teamwork, responsibility, creative thinking, perseverance, fun and a great deal of satisfaction is what T.O.M. is all about. This program begins at the end of Term 2 and will require parent facilitators to supervise a team. Meetings at lunch times and weekends will be involved.
