Student Wellbeing

Student wellbeing is a priority at Camelot Rise and is based on the premise that 'happy children learn'. It is vital that all children feel safe and cared for. Our wellbeing programs operate from Foundation to Year 6, are pro-active and preventative, and have proven to be very effective.

The programs operating include:

  • School Wide Positive Behaviours

  • Student leadership

  • eSmart

  • Buddy system

  • Restorative Practices

School Wide Positive Behaviours

SWPBS is evidence-based and is supported by the Department of Education and Training. This framework assists schools to improve social, emotional, behavioural and academic outcomes for children and young people. SWPBS requires a school to establish the positive behaviours expected from their students and then work together to explicitly teach these behaviours through student engagement, clear rules and routines, praise and feedback. It will be consistently implemented across the school.

School Leadership

At Camelot Rise, we take student leadership seriously. Students from each class have the opportunity to be voted by their peers as Class Captain and represent their class on the Student School Council. These representatives meet regularly as a team to discuss ongoing school improvements and student thoughts. Each class also votes in an Environment Captain who takes on responsibilities regarding the school environment and ways to keep it clean and safe for everyone.

In Year 6, our school leadership roles come into effect. These are specialised positions, voted on by members of our Year 4 - 6 students, and encompass the most significant leadership opportunities within their primary years. These include roles such as school captaincy and other specialist leaders.

eSmart

As a registered eSmart school, students are educated on the safe use of technology across all year levels, including cybersafety and cyberbullying.

The Buddy System

The Buddy System is a program that develops and promotes social skills between our junior and senior classes. Foundation students partner with Year 5 students, and carry that relationship into Year 1 and 6. The program establishes a link between the incoming Foundation child and the Year 5 student to aid with transition from pre-school to primary school and to promote the responsibilities and expectations given to our senior school students.

Restorative Practices

Restorative Practices is a program dedicated to students taking responsibility for their actions and viewing circumstances from each other's point of view. It employs strategies aimed at repairing relationships, instilling remorse and offering forgiveness.
